An Insider's Guide to Job Interview Questions

Core Job Search 5 December, 2022

Job interviews can be intimidating. You want to make sure that you answer questions thoughtfully, and you also don't want to be caught off guard by a question that you weren't expecting. Fortunately, there are some pretty standard questions that employers tend to ask during job interviews.

Let's look at some of the most common ones so you can go into your next interview feeling more prepared and confident!

"What Would You Say Are Your Greatest Strengths and Weaknesses?"

This is probably the most common question asked during job interviews, and it's designed to give the interviewer an idea of how well-rounded and self-aware you are. When talking about your strengths, focus on skills or qualities that would be relevant to the position you're applying for. For example, if you're applying for a customer service role, mention your ability to stay calm in high-pressure situations or your knack for quickly solving customer problems. As for weaknesses, try not to mention anything too serious or something that could totally disqualify you from the position (like not having any experience). Instead, focus on an area where you feel like there is room for improvement but one that won't be too detrimental to your success in the role—for example, saying that public speaking isn't one of your strong suits or admitting that you need more practice with Excel spreadsheets.

"Tell Me About Yourself"

This is another popular question during job interviews because it gives employers an idea of who you are apart from the skills listed on your resume. Here's an opportunity to show off your personality and highlight any unique experiences or interests that might make you stand out from other candidates. This is also an excellent way to showcase how passionate you are about working in this particular field and what motivated you to apply for this role specifically.

"Why Do You Want To Work Here?"

This question gives employers insight into what makes this particular job appealing to you as opposed to other roles in similar fields. What do they have to offer that no one else does? Talk about specific qualities such as their commitment to innovation or their strong company culture—anything that really resonates with why this particular job is the perfect fit for someone like yourself!

Job interviews can be daunting but with a little bit of research and preparation, they don’t have to be! Knowing what questions employers typically ask can help boost your confidence going into an interview—which will likely reflect positively on how well you answer each question! Remember to focus on highlighting specific skills relevant to the position as well as any unique experiences or interests which could set you apart from other candidates vying for the same role. Good luck!
