How To Tell Which Work-style You Have

When seeking a new job, it's vital to know what type of work-style you have and how it can affect your level of happiness during your next work endeavor. To find your appropriate work-style, you must consider your previous jobs and how you interacted with your tasks and other people while you were employed. These are examples of three common work-styles:

Detail Oriented

As a detail-oriented person, you pay close attention to work procedures, paperwork, policies, and general workplace relations. You are quick to notice variances and differences, and you may be the first person to point them out to others. This type of work-style is effective in data management, statistics, and production positions. Detail-oriented workers can also succeed in various leadership roles or human resources roles with the proper training and encouragement.

Independent

As an independent worker, you will thrive best when working by yourself or with minimal supervision. You don't despise teamwork, and you're just as concerned about your employer's success as the next person. However, you may succeed best when you manage your own processes. This work-style is effective in self-starter positions and jobs that don't include a heavy level of supervision. Independent workers are trustworthy and reliable, but organizations don't always see them as leaders.

Collaborative

Collaborative workers thrive on teaming up with other employees and interacting with their bosses on specific projects. They enjoy the company, the social aspects, and the shared production efforts. People with this work-style are excellent in assembly-line positions and other chain-link roles. Some of them make great leaders because they can motivate other people.

Many more work-styles exist, but those will give you some good examples. It might be productive to list your various work habits and then decide which type of style is more prevalent and desirable to you.
